Swedish baritone Anton Eriksson graduated from the Opera College in Stockholm in 2007 and soon made his debut as Marcello in Peter Konwitschny’s acclaimed production of La Bohème at Wermland Opera.
In the 2024/25 season he appeared as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at Den Jyske Opera and as Ping in Turandot at Opera på Skäret.
From 2010 to 2013, Anton was a member of the ensemble at the Royal Swedish Opera, where he performed a wide range of roles including Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), Schaunard (La Bohème), Angelotti (Tosca), Silvano (Un Ballo in Maschera), Dancaïre (Carmen), Marullo (Rigoletto), and A Mandarin (Turandot).
His repertoire now includes more than thirty-five roles, among them Marcello (La Bohème), Ping (Turandot), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Renato (Un Ballo in Maschera), Albert (Werther), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Peter Besenbinder (Hänsel und Gretel), and Zurga (Les Pêcheurs de Perles).
A particularly notable success was his participation in Philip Glass’s Satyagraha at Folkoperan in Stockholm, where he sang the roles of Arjuna and Mr. Kallenbach. This production has since toured internationally to great acclaim.
Mr. Eriksson is also an active concert soloist, with repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary works. He has performed major choral and sacred works including J. S. Bach’s St. John Passion, Christmas Oratorio and Mass in B minor, Händel’s Messiah, Saul and Judas Maccabaeus, Mozart’s Requiem, Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem, requiems by Lindberg, Duruflé and Fauré, Pärt’s Passio, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Bob Chilcott’s St. John Passion, Sven-David Sandström’s St. John Passio, and Lars-Erik Larsson’s God in Disguise.
