In Denmark, the year is welcomed in festive spirit with the New Year Concerts of the Randers Kammerorkester, featuring Marlene Metzger and Francine Vis. The concerts take place on January 3, 4, and 11, offering audiences an elegant and joyful musical start to 2026.
Operatic romance unfolds in Estonia, where tenor Gabriele Mangione appears as Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème at the Vanemuine Theatre. Performances on January 11 and 30 bring Puccini’s timeless story of love and loss to the stage.

Early January also brings a deeply moving operatic portrait in Germany, as soprano Yana Kleyn takes on the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica at Oper Kiel. Performances on January 8 and 18, with a further performance on March 14, highlight one of Puccini’s most intimate and emotionally charged works.
Mid-January in Copenhagen is dedicated to contemporary opera as Frederikke Kampmann and Steffen Jespersen collaborate with Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen on Lisbon Floor. Two concert performances take place on January 15, followed by recording sessions on January 17 and 18, combining live performance with artistic documentation.
At the Malmö Opera, January marks the premiere of a new production of Bizet’s Carmen on January 17. Mezzo-soprano Cláudia Ribas appears in the title role, joined by Yana Kleyn as Micaëla. The production continues with performances throughout January and into February and March.
